When Customer is King

When Customer is King. I was watching a documentary video on Paithani Sarees. A beautiful weave of  of silk threads. Made in Maharashtra. Paithani Sarees are known for its rich vibrant colors and typical Peacock motifs. The documentary also was talking about Current trends. Today, apart from the traditional woven designs in silk, some handloom houses cater to every demand of the customers. So now we get the traditional designs woven in other silks too( Tussar,Maheshwari,Organza to name a few). The traditional motifs are replaced by whatever design demanded by customers. Even the vibrant colors, traditional borders and pallu designs are modified or replaced. But what was end product.... The authenticity, aesthetic part of the traditional Paithani saree handed down for generations got lost. But when Customer becomes King....one has to cater to the demands..... In a similar pattern, Corpuratisation of Medical field has turned each hospital into a Hospitality Industry....

As I change the angle

As I change the angle..... As a Pain Specialist, I give intervention Nerve Blocks for Pain Relief. These blocks are either C-  ARM or Ultrasound guided procedures. These blocks are given by Long Needles. Whenever the angle of either the Needle or the C ARM tube  / USG probe changes, image on the Screen changes and so does the point of view. The right positioning of the Needle at the target area depends upon the right angle of Needle insertion and the Machine. All need to be in synchrony . Similarly in life,we judge people depending upon our interactions with them. If at some point ,our interactions are not in synchrony with one another, we find only faults in them. But if we change the angle at which we are looking at them, perhaps we may understand the person better.A change of angle may show us a different person and perspective. As a child,I was taught If we are pointing a finger at someone.....same time 3 fingers are pointing back towards us. Meaning,if we ar...

Humane amongst Humans

Humane amongst Humans. I was in 2nd yr of MBBS. Thought of giving a surprise visit to my family,so traveled in unreserved bogie from Sewagram to Mumbai and landed home early morning.  My Ajji was very happy.  Exhilaration made her prepare a sumptuous breakfast even in illness. The whole process stressed her weak body and she suffered a massive heart attack and she left us for heavenly abode just hours after I had reached home. Shocked and Grieving, I was accompanied by a close senior back to Sewagram.  Remembering my Ajji,I was inconsolable and mindlessly talking about the whole episode which had taken place at home. My friend was actually in a different mood. She had got engaged and was very excited about her new life. We both were in different moods at that moment.  Each wanted to share their emotions with each other. My friend heard my rant for few minutes and snapped " Tripti, your Ajji was old.She had to leave you one day.Stop Grieving.Instead, let's spend th...

My Cup of Coffee

My Cup of Coffee. I love drinking Coffee. As a student, I would boil water, add instant coffee to it.Voila ! my coffee was ready. As I grew up, I learnt to prepare the decoction using the already prepared Coffee Bean powder. A bit time consuming, but the coffee tasted better. Then,I purchased a coffee maker, which crushed the coffee beans and then prepared the decoction.  Time consuming and tedious. But..... My coffee.....aromatic and ultimate taste.Enriching and Everlasting.  Life is so similar to my  CUP OF COFFEE. Instant Coffee is similar to short term gains. Whether in life, education or career. As a student, today, our main priority is to score great rank, crack enterances and secure a seat. Here ,knowledge takes back seat. Without in depth knowledge of a subject, innovative ideas and create minds don't get flourished.  A very narrow and shallow approach to education only guarantees a rank..... But sustainability of the knowledge in future is questioned. ...

Value of Self esteem

Self Esteem. In 326BC,Alexander, the Great fought a long battle crossing the river Jhelum defeating the Indian King of Paurava Dynasty,Puru. When the Mighty Warrior was brought in front of Alexander, he was asked " How would you like to be treated?" Inspite of facing defeat,in chains,King Puru ,held his head high and answered " As A King." Alexander got so impressed that not only he reinstated King Puru back ,also was handed additional lands and kingdoms. Self Esteem. One may lose wealth,power.... Face rejections, failures.... Life may go downwards..... One may fall..... But what one must never allow to go down or fall....is one's SELF ESTEEM. People around me may not value me..... But I will never allow my SELF ESTEEM to get devalued. People may hurt me with harsh words or acts of betrayal.... People may under estimate me.... People may question or doubt my credibility.... People may ridicule me or insult me...... But I shall never allow any...

Discipline

Discipline.  A couple of years back,I met with an accident resulting in Fractures and ligament tear on my Left side.I had to undergo surgery and was off Anaesthesia work for a months Rigorous physiotherapy, rehabilitation exercises got me back to work.  The impact of the fall was exaggerated by my heavy bodyweight resulting in the Fracture.  This Medical Emmergency which had affected my Left Arm- The intubating arm of an Anaesthesiologist, alerted me. I became concious of my unhealthy lifestyle. The irregular unpredictable working hours of Anaesthesia private practice and Family responsibilities got me neglect my personal health.  Lack of Exercise and unhealthy irregular eating habits, irregular sleep patterns- No Discipline- increased bodyweight.  I am not the only person who has awakened after a personal Emmergency.  Many of us have a casual, lackadaisical attitude and approach towards Life. It's only when we get pushed against the wall...or at the e...

No space for Hatred in my Heart.

My Heart has no space for " HATRED". Life is a journey. People we meet in course of this journey are Travellers. Some begin the journey with us from the beginning. Some come later. Some stay with us till the end while some leave us in between. Some are ever in transit....coming and going. Some give us joy .Some leave behind a wonderful memory cherished forever. But,some knowingly and at times unknowingly hurt us so much that a feeling of " HATRED" persists forever. We do forgive them. But Forgetting is never possible. Every time, when alone..... Or a mention..... Or a random conversation or a passing thought..... Triggers the Anger within..... Hatred...... A poison which stays within us forever. As we age,.... One realises the intensity of this strong feeling which overpowers even Love. Hatred is that anger which we feel  is being expressed upon that person who hurt us or betrayed us or wronged us. We feel Hatred is the best Revenge we inflict u...

Life is Cricket

Life is Cricket. Upto 20yrs- U r in initial overs.Enthusuastic and excited.Trying to gauge the bowler and the pitch. Each move and shot is energetic. One wrong shot and u r out. But coach doesn't get angry. There are still other players and more balls . 30- 50yrs- Energy is still strong. But the attitude is more reserved. Calculated moves. No random shots.Patiently playing the game.Target is runs. U get opportunity to hit....grab it and drive it across the stadium. 50 -60yrs- Attitude is whatever previous players have played, accept it. Match isn't over yet. Still balls remaining. Just grab each ball to the best....Either hit hard or run fast . Agenda is Win the Match....or if losing....End it gracefully.  Beyond 65 yrs-..... Accept the results....and enjoy the remaining balls. 😁😁😁
