 Moments in day of Anaesthesia. 

As Anaesthesiologist, I get to interact with all age groups.

I get to anaesthetise newborns to Geriatrics. 

Kids and Youth as persons are interesting. 

Their aspirations and theories of life are interesting. 

Kids aspire from being a bus driver to Fire engine driver to Touching the Space as Astronaut.

Youth is more ambitious and highly competitive. 

Both love attention and do anything to seek attention from everyone especially their peers.

They love their Hero- Chota Bheem to Messi to Kohli to K Pop.

They also try v hard to be Hero themselves. 

2 stories- Both different. 

One used the attention to her benefit and succeeded. 

Other  used attention to harm himself. 

Strong Girl-

A young girl, 22yrs,suffered Train accident was brought into Trauma Centre of BYL Nair.I was  JR Anaesthesia there.

A thief snatched her purse in Train Girl fought hard to retrieve her purse back.In this jostle, the thief pushed the girl out of the moving Train.

We took the injured girl into  Trauma OT.

The wheels of the moving Train had crushed the lower limbs of the girl. 

Her life was saved but Bilateral Below knee Amputation had to be done.

A young girl with a long future ahead...was into despair and remorse.

The incident caught attention of local TV channels. Followed by local politicians. 

She was surrounded by every one eager to help and reach out. 

She took full advantage of this 'Attention " she was getting. 

She acquired a 1 BHK home and Government secured job from the Politicians. Also Got free treatment and Rehabilitation sanction by NGOs. 

This Youth though initially was feeling helpless about her sudden Diversity in life.

But her strength made her utilise the " Attention " for her benefit. 

Pampered Youth

A 20 yr boy got admitted with ulcers over both feet and arms.He came to  me to be anaestheised on regular intervals for debridement of the ulcers as they would get healed and after few months would reoccur.

All investigations were conducted but reached to no diagnosis. 

A year later the boy landed in Emmergency for slashing his wrist and finally under a Psychiatrist. 

When we got him to speak under Anaesthesia.....the story shocked all of us.

In order to grab attention of his parents and get his demands fulfilled this young boy used to inject into his own skin himself " Liquid Mosquito Repellant" and cause the " Ulcers".

He had slashed his wrist because his parents refused to gift him a SUV.

Attention seeking lead him to harm and hurt himself.
