 Stories on Girl Child.

24th January....National Girl Child Day.

Today ,our country is celebrating a day to respect ,cherish and empower a Girl Child.

It's very despicable that even today,we have to implement strict laws in order to save Lives of Girl Child.

In a country,which worships female in Goddess forms but in practical life...quite contrary.Inspite of rigid punishment ,still sex determination and female feticide is prevalent. 

Preference for Male Child ......at cost of health of the pregnant lady. It's apalling and shameful. 

A heart wrenching experience in my Anaesthesia practice. 

A 28yr Pregnant lady was posted for Csection. It was her 5th pregnancy.First 4 being Girl Child......

The lady and her mother were so tensed....

The anxiety to bear a Male Child this time caused the Blood pressure to shoot up 200/120mmHg.She hadn't been eating well out of stress.Hence,Anaemia Haemoglobin 8mg%.

Throughout the Csection only one rant " Let me get a Male Baby this time".

Her pulse hit almost 170 per min.....

Seeing her vitals shoot up got all of us tensed.

Male baby was born.

But the high vitals,caused lot of blood loss and Uterine Atonia. This lead to Post Partum Haemorrhage.

We tried every measure to control the complicated situation. 

Blood and blood products were transfused. 

Infusions to bring her Blood pressure to normal started.

It took almost 3 to 4 gruelling hours to bring all parameters and situation under control.

The mother witnessing the difficult condition of her Daughter.....inconsolable told" The mother in law and husband had warned my daughter....She must return back only with Male baby this time.Else she stay in her parents house forever."

" Here my daughter is battling for her life and those people are not bothered.They are celebrating birth of Male child."......

So much for a Male Child.🙄😲😕

But all are not like this.

There do exist people who adore the Girl Child. 

A couple had adopted a baby as they wanted a Girl Child. 

As the baby grew old,they found something odd in the body appearance of the Child.

When they consulted a Paediatrician, after physical examination and Ultra sound,blood investigation for hormone study.....

The Child was found having both Male and Female Sexual organs.Hermaphrodite. 

Both hormones get secreted and dominant.

So parents were given choice. 

They wanted the child to be " Girl" or " Boy".

In a country, where mostly Male gender is preferred.....

This couple said" We have raised our child as a GIRL Child. She thinks to be a Girl till now.So we want our child to be a Girl"

The Female sex organs were saved.The Male sex organs removed.

The Girl Child today is a healthy young Happy Lady. 

Gender discrimination, Male gender bias.....is unhealthy for Gender proportion of Society. 

Practices which discriminate between genders,female feticide Practices are inhumane and lead to vast gender disproportion in future. 

So many states,communities are facing the consequences of the huge disproportion in gender ratio.

At one part of Society, females are empowered to touch the Moon and head Mission on Mars........

There is still a section of mindsets which are rudimentary and exasperating.

Just celebrating our Girl Child for a Day in her name is not sufficient. 

Rigid laws also aren't enough.

Mindsets need to change.

Societal norms need to get revolutionized.

Save our Girl Child. 

Love your Girl Child. 

Empower our Woman.
