Tender Loving Care.

The true nature of a spouse,a friend or your children is revealed only when you fall sick.

A 65yr lady was referredto my Pain Clinic in irreversible stage of Leiomyosarcoma of Vagina.

She had a Colostomy bag.Undergone Chemo and Radiotherapy for the same.

She had been given just 6 months survival. Hence her family took her to their remote village. 

A very simple grassroot family with meager finances.

After 4 years ,her son brought her to the Oncosurgeon for pain relief. 

The Morphine tablets were no longer relieving the pain.

Every one was shocked to see her alive ,happy .....

But what made us happier was...

Though she was bed ridden for years,the whole family had taken such good care of her,there was no beds ore.She looked relatively healthy and relaxed.

I examined her.The deadly cancer had eaten away all the soft tissue, muscles in the perineal region around the vagina.Foul smelling ulcer which just wasn't healing....exposing the surrounding bone.

The Colostomy bag area was clean.Hygiene maintained. 

Illiterate uneducated poor farming class.

But TLC- Tender Loving Care was 💯. 

I do lots of Palliative care. 

Most patients in irreversible stage succumb not because of the cancer.

They deteriorate because of neglect from family  .The emanating foul odor from the Ulcers,maggots,bedsores,Colostomy bags caused due to the debilitating metastatic cancer repels the family to isolate the patient. Depression and Loneliness is main reason for fast deterioration of Cancer patients in Palliative stage.

But this Patient though weak financially was fortunate to have such supportive ,caring and loving family members.

In Life,money is needed to buy materials.

Money is needed to buy medicines,investigations done and get procedures done.

But for survival one needs TLC.

Tender Loving Care.

It's TLC which got the lady live long even when the survival chances of the Deadly Cancer was just few months.

We Humans feel Money can buy everything. 

Money can buy people who will take care of us in suffering. 

But Money can not buy Love.

Love,Compassion and Care....

Kindness unconditional without any reason. 

A suffering person needs shower of  TLC more than throwing endless wads of notes from near ones.

Very few people in pain are fortunate to receive TLC from dear ones.

That grassroot poor family showered on that fortunate patient.....


Har kisiko nahin milta 

TLC .....

Khushnaseeb hai woh jinko hai mili yeh bhar bhar ke zindagi mein.

When you lose Health

 When you lose your health...... I was referred a 70yr man suffering from severe pain. A CA Lung with metastasis. He was a very successful, famous Advocate.A Robust and Dynamic personality yesterday.  But that Cancer had made him weak and vulnerable.  He had become a frail shadow..... Another patient with Parkinson 's disease regularly visits for pain relief . A retired Chairman of a Conglomerate.  Both these people have been Dynamic personalities looked up on by everyone.
