 Polygamy and Infidelity.


Recently a podcast on OTT platform had some celebrities share opinions on relationships with respect to cheating.
The older generations apparently was okay with physical cheating over emotional cheating.

Polygamy and Infidelity in a relationship is not new.
History has shown battles being fought over this.
Mythology has stories on Polygamy and Infidelity.

Indian constitution ( barring a certain community) officially finds Polygamy against Law.
Till recently, Infidelity too was criminal offense. But not so today in court of law.
The difference between Human race and Animals is respect and trust in relationships.
Except for few races of Animals, commitment in a relationship is missing.
Human race stresses on Commitment and Loyalty.
Most countries don't legally allow Polygamy.
But African continent and some religions support Polygamy.
Infidelity in relationships- Physical and Emotional both though is not anymore a criminal offense, it's become a debatable issue amongst Today's era.
Some don't have qualms or complaints nor guilt cheating on the partner.
So ......
What means and how important is ......
Commitment and Loyalty to each other.....in a Relationship?

Is Only being Emotionally Committed to each other....and
Physically Cheating enough for sustainability of a relationship between 2 individuals?
Someone who was a serial physically infidel in his relationship argued with me once in defense of his Infidelity.....
" Man is a very emotional animal. He gets attracted to others and gets over ridden by his inner emotions. "

Agreed.
Man is an Animal too.

But what makes us above other animals is " Self Control " .
Control over our urges and emotions.
Our Hippocampus part of Brain is stronger than our Limbic System.
Hence ,we can control our Emotions such as Extreme Anger,Happiness and Urges.
If this Control over " The Basic Instinct" gets lost....
Then.....
How is Human Race  different from or above other Animals?

We Humans consider ourselves superior to other species of Animals. Hence laid down certain rules and regulations, Law and Order,Inhibitions and Prohibitions,Borders and Boundaries, Do"s and Don't s to maintain equilibrium in  Society.
Human Race introduced " Marriage " between 2 individuals staying in a Relationship. You don't find " Marriage and Rituals " in Animals. They just mate with each other.
Man formed an Institution for a " Family" and made this Institution sacred by getting the 2 individuals entering into this Sacred Union of Marriage promise " Vows" to each other.
Vow to
Respect
Commitment
Loyalty
Towards each other forever.
Fidelity towards each other is main aspect of Respect for each other.....Emotional and Physical both are important and necessary.
Cheating- Both Physical and Emotional- is breach of Respect, Trust,Commitment and Loyalty.
The Foundation of Marriage as an Institution is Respect and Commitment.
If these 2 pillars of strength go missing, the Foundation of the Institution called " Marriage is bound to grow weak.In due course of time,it's going to develop cracks and one day will collapse.
So is " Live- in" / " Pre nup contract/ Soligamy( Commitment to only self and nobody) a solution for Infidelity and Polygamy with respect to Relationship between 2 individuals?
Currently, this concept of Relationship is trending amongst the younger generations in our Society.
Fear of Commitment to each other only shows lack of Respect and Trust between 2 individuals in a relationship.
This new trend, I feel,  is detrimental for right  equilibrium and balance of Society.
Emotional connection and Support between 2 individuals for  each other is either missing or transient...Short lived.
Tolerance, Adjustment and Control of urges( Anger,Lust,Possessiveness, Jealousy) is somewhere getting lost and forgotten in our quest of Supremacy as Individual Human Race.
Dear Friends,
Before we end up bare and alone as Adam and Eve had been then......let's endorse the sanctity of Marriage as an Institution.
Let's respect each other in a relationship by Commitment and Loyalty .

That's the Moral Responsibility of both individuals entering a relationship. BOTH PARTNERS. no gender discrimination here.
Rules and regulations are same for all humans in the  Sacred Institution of Marriage.
Elders  in the family Religious heads,Mentors, Leaders of Society must endorse and promote, encourage and educate younger generations to respect each other and stay committed towards each other.
Only then the equilibrium of Society, which makes the Human Race an edge above other species of Animals, be strong and sustainable. Emotional and Mental status of individuals in Society remains healthy and environmental susceptible for growth and development of upcoming generations.
Survival of Humanity tomorrow depends upon Society today and tomorrow.


Social media platforms need to be monitored regarding the contents today if we want to protect the " Emotional Health " of next generation.

Citizens of Tomorrow
