In medical college, during my internship, Monday morning used to be Grand Rounds.
The Unit Head,all Post graduates,nursing staff,interns, ward boys....would be present and bed to bed each patient examined,investigations seen,treatment discussed and over  each bed,Unit Head would question the Post graduates....case discussed,some investigations added,some treatments modified.
Same time,the nursing and house keeping staff were monitored for cleanliness and hygiene of patients and wards.The minutest of details discussed.

This routine is followed in almost all Medical institutions.

But.......

If an error is committed by either student or staff.....
Some times the erred person irrespective of Post was reprimanded in front of every one.

This situation is embarrassing.

In a Corporate setup,a young Intern on her first day was assigned a certain task.
She sincerely put in lot of efforts into her presentation.
She was asked to give her presentation in front of the entire office.
Nervousness made her commit few errors.
The tough Head of the Team,got irritated and made him reprimand the young Intern in front of the entire Office.

A student was caught inattentive in the Math class by Strict Teacher.She asked the student to come in front and solve the Math problem written on the board.The student was helpless.
The Teacher reprimanded the student in front of the whole class calling him Dumb.

Haven't all of us faced either of these situations in our lives?

Being Stripped ....
By words...
In front of every one.

A harsh word of reprimand in front of every one....
Stings us more than shower of arrows behind the doors.

When a Superior angered by an error .....in order to bring discipline and maintain order.....
Fires Words at the Junior....
In front of every one...

The burn is more ruthless than actual Fire.

Words Strip a Person bare....
Words Strip the Confidence of the person they are targeted at.
Words Strip off the Confidence of the Person they are showered at.

Harsh words are arrows which can never be taken back.
Once Fired ,they hit badly...and permanently damage the inner strength of a vulnerable person.

As a person in position,....
As a Parent,
As a Teacher,
As a Boss,
As a Head....
As a Leader....

One must weigh the words and emotions wisely and with  maturity.
Self Confidence is like a Cloak ....on any person.
You Strip Off that Cloak by harsh words.....
You Strip off the Competence by making the person Bare and Vulnerable.

Social media today is behaving just like that Teacher or Boss, angrily trolling innocent minds brutally.
One doesn't realise the impact of this trolling on the SELF Confidence of young minds.
Cyber bullying ,Memes,Jokes,Harsh comments, is causing lot of mental health issues in young minds.

One may forget about the words spoken.....
But the effects of those words leave a permanent impact on some minds.

Harsh words spoken in anger break the spirit of the person. Anger passes off....but the broken spirit can never be mended nor put back.


Does that mean when a person errs, he needs no correction?

Any err needs to be pointed out and corrected.
But harsh words in front of every one never does a great job.
Only the words leave their imprint without lessons Learnt.
Harsh words never toughen a person. Instead they...... STRIP .....the fragile mind .
