Littman Stethoscope is a popular brand in Stethoscopes.
Morever, a prestigious asset hanging around shoulders of a Doctor.
Prestigious because of its high quality and it's expensive.
Today,Littman Stethoscope is available in India.
Earlier,before globalization, Littman Stethoscope had to be procured through some friend or relative from Abroad....Europe or US.
Littman Stethoscope even today,remains preserved in the Doctors ' drawers.

Any ordinary Stethoscope does it's required work of helping to listen the chest.
To hear breathing and heartbeat.
To hear peristalsis.
To detect,diagnose and treat.

But a Littman remains an Asset.

I completed my internship and the prefix of " Dr" in front of my name.

The first Doctor in the Family.

My brother was in Dubai.

He wanted to gift me .

I told him" Buy a Littman for me if it's not very expensive for you. "
An Engineer with non meficos as his friends, somehow ,he did manage to gather information about procuring the Littman for his sister. ( This was pre Digitalisation)
He felt so proud of buying a Littman Stethoscope ( Expensive for him as he had just started his job after his BE degree.)

The gift was appreciated and everyone in family was in awe listening to heartbeat of one another so clearly.
During my Post grad days,the fear of losing it made me buy a cheaper Stethoscope for daily use.

The Littman Stethoscope gifted by my dear brother is preserved well.

It even today remains my most priced possession.I use it for auscultation of my high risk cases especially Paediatric ones and Anaesthesia monitoring.

I am a proud Littman Doctor. ( Thank you Santosh Kurbet for gifting the most precious Rakshabandhan present to dear sister)

Tomorrow is Rakshabandhan.....
