The Hand that Rocks.....

The Hand that Rocks!!!! All houses remain dark until the Mother wakes up. - Khalil Gibran. This sentence has so much depth . In a country, where majority households are Patriarchal dominated..... Where a woman is kept in dark ....enclosed walls.....behind veils... When a woman has to fight for her survival right from birth ,against all odds during adolescence, even in adulthood for her existence, freedom and identity...... Khalil Gibran's words echo sentiments and emotions of fight of every Woman as a girl, and a Mother. In every household, the first to get up and start working from dawn....providing, nurturing and caring for each member of the family is the Mother. Till dusk ...... The last person to retire ( not in literal sense.....as a Mother never Retires from her role of Motherhood) at the end of day is the Mother. But when this person has no identity or freedom of her existence...... Till she doesn't wake up herself to fight for her own self esteem....... Soc...

What next- at crossroads

What next? It was my last day of post graduation in Anaesthesia. It is customary to bid your goodbyes to your Head of Department, your Teachers,Seniors. " What will you do in a 3 Tier city,Tripti?" My HOD enquired. My seniors commented" Ah,just few D&Cs and a Csection somewhere.".... When a person is ever in Metropolitan Mega City like Mumbai..... Or If you come from a town in any part of country..... Attraction of big cities..... Inclination towards Big cities...... Relunctance to smaller towns..... When we reach that phase of life after our degrees and education....question  " What next?" One aspires to go abroad or settle on a big Metropolitan city. Reason is opportunities and growth in career. But I chose a 3 Tier city in Karnataka.  I am not the first nor the only one. I had 2 inspiring Doctors for my choice. A Paediatrician who just like me had spent till post graduation all years in Mumbai.....chose a town at Maharashtra- Gujrat border for his...

Stories of Girl Child

Stories on Girl Child. 24th January....National Girl Child Day. Today ,our country is celebrating a day to respect ,cherish and empower a Girl Child. It's very despicable that even today,we have to implement strict laws in order to save Lives of Girl Child. In a country, which worships female in Goddess forms but in practical life...quite contrary.Inspite of rigid punishment ,still sex determination and female feticide is prevalent.  Preference for Male Child ......at cost of health of the pregnant lady. It's apalling and shameful.  A heart wrenching experience in my Anaesthesia practice.  A 28yr Pregnant lady was posted for Csection. It was her 5th pregnancy.First 4 being Girl Child...... The lady and her mother were so tensed.... The anxiety to bear a Male Child this time caused the Blood pressure to shoot up 200/120mmHg.She hadn't been eating well out of stress.Hence,Anaemia Haemoglobin 8mg%. Throughout the Csection only one rant " Let me get a Male Baby this tim...

Cutting Umbilical cord

Cutting the Umbilical cord. -Dr Tripti Milind Galgali. As soon as baby is delivered from the womb, the Umbilical cord is cut.The baby becomes independent of the mother and takes its first breath and gives out a loud lofty cry ....... Though the Umbilical cord gets cut physically......the Mother still is emotionally connected to her Baby forever. Even when the baby starts getting independent.....Walking, Expressing and Venturing into outside world...... Parenting begins...... Parenting decides..... Cutting the Umbilical Cord metaphorically. Emotionally and Physically......Cutting The Umbilical Cord. Actual Detachment from your kid. In medieval period, when child reaches pre Puberty, Pre Adolescent age..... around 8 to 10yrs of age,.....Gurukul phase. Kids were sent to Gurukul. Education- Knowledge- Skills. The life of the child used to be Wisdom.Stress was on gaining knowledge- Wisdom and Life skills. Hard work,Sincerity and dedication. No trace of Luxury and Lavishnes...

Bucket List

My Bucket List. Bucket List. Aspirations we have in our lifetime. We " Have" to achieve them. Why wait for tomorrow? We work very hard to complete that never ending " Bucket List". A new word in current Trend of Work Life Balance generation.  .... When " I" is priortised and " Mysef" is given " Me" Time....... Some stories....... 1. A Friend was very ambitious right from school days. Each phase of life,he had Bucket List of Aspirations. He definitely worked very hard.He was so busy with his Bucket List...he had no time for spending time with us friends nor did he have time to enjoy childhood. As he grew up,his Bucket List grew.and so did his hours of hard work.He now hardly got to spend time with his wife and kids. He formed a big Conglomerate, and his investments spread not only India but globally. His aged mother too was left behind now. One day,his mother became seriously ill.....but he was so committed in achieving his no...

What is App- WhatsApp

What's App - the community. 2 Computer programmers working in Yahoo for 20 yrs came together to bring a Messenger app in Mobile phones.Jan Koum and Brian Acton. In 2014 WhatsApp got merged to another Social networking app Facebook.  A Messenger app which helps u to connect, reconnect, share, and express. A closed group App.....Members form a closed group and connect with one another.  Initially the number of members in a particular was restricted. But today ,this restriction has been increased to 1024. So one thousand people in one closed group. People with different ideologies  People with different affinity  People with different affiliation.  People with varying interests.  Political believes, Religious believes.... Creative interests. Travel interests. Culinary interests.  It's amazing, apalling, intriguing.  Hence, in one day,you find variety of posts and forwards on multiple topics.  Debates heating up. Squabbling and at times exit...

Lucky story

Simply Darn Lucky..... Dr Tripti Milind Galgali.  Hubli. Luck..... An excuse,I feel, often used by Failures in life. A board said Success is 5% Hard Work 95% Luck. ...... A person who achieves success....or for that matter any thing....... Attributes to " How Lucky is he in life?"...... His hard work takes back seat. I have incident to narrate...... It was Wednesday. Each Wednesday a " Sante" or Market sits on an open ground adjacent to my place. It was a rainy day .....rains,heavy wind and slushy. Early morning I went to purchase weekly vegetables and fruits.  I then went to work.Someone pointed out that my Earing on the right side was missing.  I called up my Househelp and asked her to check in the house. But got a negative answer. As I was busy till afternoon, I couldn't go home to search personally.  It was a Diamond ear stud.My favorite and expensive too. After I completed my professional duties, returned home Frantically searched whole house. Then sat dow...

Poem of a Homemaker

I am Unproductive.....Am I? I am Unproductive  Coz I don't pay the EMIs I am Unproductive  Coz I don't pay the fees. I am Unproductive  Coz I don't have a salary slip. I am Un productive Coz I don't run a Job.... Neither an Employee nor an Employer. I am Un productive  Coz all I do is caring, nurturing and  Putting food on the table..... I am Un productive Coz.....my role of Homemaker is not productive enough. Many Women- educated/ uneducated choose home making by choice. Don't disregard or disrespect them. Life is convenient for you Coz they play the productive role of Home making remarkably.

Big Screen Stories

Big Screen Nostalgia. I am love watching movies. But am not kinda Screen buff. When I was a kid,my father an ardent Big Screen buff...would take me along to watch English movies in Greater Mumbai. We would travel all the way from Vashi ,Navi Mumbai to watch a movie. Eros, New Empire, Lido......traveling the Harbor route for English movies Gaiety and Satyam once for some Hindi movie ( Don't remember the names) More than the Big Screen, Bigger than Life Movie experience...as a kid Caramalised Popcorn Jumbo Pack was the excitement . One day,Chota Chetan was released. It was exhilarating and apalling moment when the big Bad Villain shoved  the Shovel almost close to my nose....The 3D experience. School took us to the only Triplet Theatre( Meghdoit,Meghraj,Meghana) just started in Vashi for Bal Shivaji( Movie on Shivaji). Big Screen became the Stress Buster in Medical College.Every post exam Stress was relieved by Govinda Movies .The small theatres in Wardha seemed irreleva...

Story of a Blind man

Story of a Blind Man. There was once a Blind Man.One day,he met a woman. The woman talked very sweetly. She made him feel very happy whenever he was with her as she always spoke very sweet. The Blind man fell in love with the sweet voiced woman. He couldn't see her but used to visualize her in his mind.Such a sweet voiced woman ought to be very beautiful. One day,he got operated and got his sight. In front of him were 2 ladies. He saw the most beautiful lady in front of him and reached out" I knew you ought to be most beautiful in the world.See I recognized you at once". But the not so beautiful one came forward and spoke" Oh ,I am so happy you got to see the world". He turned to that sweet voice.....but aghast to see the face just didn't match the sweet voice. In life,we judge the person by their outward appearance .The outward beauty is given more prevalence than the person's inward personality. We are totally blind to the inward beauty of a person....
