All houses remain dark until the Mother wakes up.

This sentence has so much depth .
In a country, where majority households are Patriarchal dominated.....
Where a woman is kept in dark ....enclosed walls.....behind veils...
When a woman has to fight for her survival right from birth ,against all odds during adolescence,even in adulthood for her existence, freedom and identity......
Khalil Gibran's words echo sentiments and emotions of fight of every Woman as a girl, and a Mother.
In every household,the first to get up and start working from dawn....providing, nurturing and caring for each member of the family is the Mother.
Till dusk ......
The last person to retire ( not in literal sense.....as a Mother never Retires from her role of Motherhood) at the end of day is the Mother.
But when this person has no identity or freedom of her existence......
Till she doesn't wake up herself to fight for her own self esteem.......
Society will remain ever in dark.....and so will the Mother.
If you want an en"light "ened society,.....
Mother you must " wake up" first.
History has Jija Mata......Mother of great Maratha warrior, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, teaching young Shivaji to fight against the Muggal Empire.It was Mother Jijabai guiding Shivaji Maharaj to establish the Maratha Empire all over Bharat.
Then,dear Mother,why are you in dark,helpless,waiting for someone to remove you outside?
You are The Shakti,who carries the baby in your womb for 9 months and tolerates harsh labor pains in order to bring into outside world a new life.
Dear Mother,why are you scared or doubt your inner strength to fight all odds for your existence and identity?
Today,Women are leading so many Conglomerates, fighting Combats....even in space....( Astronaut Sunita Williams has spent maximum months in space till date)....
Managing mission to Mars( All women Scientists team of ISRO managed Mangalyaan-  venture to send satellite to Mars in India).....
Then,why does a Mother have to fight for freedom to birthing,education, speech,career,Aspirations and self esteem?
Equality- equal existence, identity and opportunity.
You keep a Mother in dark,.....the whole family remains in dark.
Allow the Mother to wake up and come outside in bright sunlight.....
And see how she awakens and brightens her whole household and surroundings.
A young child has the Mother as first Teacher.
Child learns by just watching his / her Mother.
Child when watches a happy, confident, strong Mother who has freedom to do whatever she wants,go wherever she wants....nurtures,cares,and independent.....
Learns to follow her footsteps.
But when a child is ever watching the Mother behind 4 walls,hidden behind curtains, repressed, suppressed,depressed and restricted......ever as an Adult ,he/ she will be doubting own identity and existence.
" The Hand that Rocks the cradle........
The Mother.......
Oh,Woman.....
You not only Rock....
But you are the Rock.....strong,resilient and unbroken.
Awaken, En- Light-en ....yourself and the Society around you.

Daily,as a Medical professional, I come across ladies not giving their health and well-being priority. They neglect themselves to the extent of putting their lives at risk- mortality and morbidity.
Physical and mental stress is highest in women.
Anaemia- nutritional being maximum,followed by Haemolytic causes- is main reason for both mortality and morbidity in Women in India.
This leads to weaker newborns and unhealthy children.
Lack of education, health and Hygiene care leads to poor growth and development of women and along with them the whole Society.
Khalil Gibran's words hold so much relevance and depth......
If Society has to develop and prosper.....
The Mother has to wake up first.
