Chalk and Duster

Chalk and Duster. -Dr Tripti Milind Galgali  Hubli Chalk and Duster, synonymous to a Teacher. The Pre Digital period ( Suddenly making me a Veteran 😁😄)..... Blackboard teaching in Classrooms was method of imparting knowledge and education.  The Blackboard then got transformed to Glass Green board . The white Chalk got more colorful- Pink,Green,Blue chalks. Beginning the day with  Thought of The Day written by the girl who had the best handwriting ( I have done that duty for years🤗) At the side ,the PAT ( Present/ Absent/ Total number of students for that day) table . Nostalgic.  Today, Digitalisation has replaced the Blackboard and Chalks and Duster. Covid Pandemic made On Line Classes popular. The physical interaction between Teacher and Students is getting lost . Teacher catches us either napping sitting back bench.Hitting us with that piece of Chalk. We girls adoring and admiring the beautiful saree of our Teacher and smelling the fragrance of the Mogra sh...

Besan Laddoo

Besan Laddoo. -Dr Tripti Milind Galgali Hubli. Besan Laddoo,a sweet made in every household in India. Chana Dal(Bengal Gram Chickpea split) Flour,Ghee,Sugar. Just 3 simple ingredients. A tedious time consuming process. Every occasion these Laddoos bring sweetness. Diwali festival is incomplete without Besan Laddoos. Weddings have so many sweet delicacies but Besan Laddoos are must. I don't have a sweet tooth. My Ajji made Besan Laddoos. The aroma, when the Besan Flour got roasted and mixed completely into the homemade Ghee, spread all over our home and neighborhood. " Ajji, are you making Besan Laddoos to be sent to your grand daughter to her hostel?" After Ajji passed away,my Amma started making the Besan Laddoos to be taken to hostel. When my kids went to hostel for studies( it's been almost 7yrs now),I have followed the ritual. Besan Laddoos ......when the aroma of the Roasted Besan reaches my neighbor downstairs.....it's time to switch off the gas...

3Cs

3 Cs. Conversation Communication Conveyance..... Beegees sang It's only Words....and Words are all I have...... Words put together to form a Conversation. The Conversation which Communicates our thoughts. The way we Communicate the conversation.... Conveys Emotions. Man is an Emotional being. Our Thinking Brain is full of Thoughts and Emotions which differentiates Humans from other Mammals. Co Habitatation- Society brings us Humans to cohabitation. As we have to stay together, it's Communication, Conversation and Conveyance of Thoughts playing a major role . Yesterday, I was explaining to one patient about Fasting prior to Surgery. NIL BY MOUTH in medical parlance. But due to language barrier, conversation was restricted resulting to poor communication and Conveyance of importance of Fasting prior Surgery for Anaesthesia couldn't be explained. This resulted in Patient drinking a glass of water just minutes before entering Operation Theatre. This caused in...

The Eraser

The Eraser. Remember in school, each one took pride in possession of Scented Erasers. All colorful. Some had our famous cartoon character on them. Some came with a cleaner attached. When fountain pen entered the Compass Box in secondary school, dual erasers ,White soft one for  pencil and blue one for ink. Is this nostalgic blog on Erasers!!!!! No. Erasers is a Metaphor here. One to erase off the mistakes in our life.... Mistakes during  youth committed unknowingly out of Ignorance. Mistakes later in life which leave a permanent mark even after erasing off...... Mistakes....... Yes.we all make mistakes. To Err Is To Humans. Mistakes which give us punishment. Mistakes which only we know but go unnoticed. Mistakes which both parties know but preferred to be over looked. But mistakes when harm someone is unpardonable. But mistakes do teach us to be more careful in future. Lessons Learnt in a Hard way. If I blame everything and everyone else except self for my Mis...

The Fountain Pen- A Nostalgia Today

The Mighty Pen. A Nostalgic Blog. In School,as we leave Primary and enter Secondary School.... Transition from 4th std to 5th std..... Feeling of growing up. Leaving the Lead Pencil,Rubber and Sharpner behind. Moving on to Fountain Pen and Camlin Compass Box. Both matter of Pride. Fountain Pen.. Beginning was the simple modest 3 or 4 Rs Pen. Filling ink into it with dropper.Scratching it's new Nib on the Floor to smoothen it's tip. Sunday ritual of cleaning the nib and the nib holder. Jerking the Pen if it stopped writing to allow freeflow of ink.Getting scolded by Teacher if ink sprinkled and stained her saree🫣😬 High School gave me China Pen.Self filling dropper in built. The Nib was fine. So no cleaning and no staining. 10th std saw me shifting from Royal Blue ink to Black ink as it made my words brighter.🙄😁 School over. The Fountain pen got replaced by Gel pen. Today occasionally I do write with Fountain pen. But they are expensive Parker,Mont Blanc,Pier...

Mumbai sees heavy rains.  Rains bring memories of childhood and days of Postgraduation in Nair Beginning of Monsoon saw Beginning of each new academic year of school. New Raincoat. New Rainy shoes. A strong weatherproof School Bag which protected my books from getting wet. Growing older , cycling in rains, into the puddles ,splashing water. Getting drenched and coming home.Getting scolded by Ajji.Getting my hair dried and being fed hot Bhajias with Coffee. Paperboats over rivulets entering the gutter. My Postgraduate days in Nair took me to Chowpatty with friends. Enjoying the Monsoon and Breeze with hot Bhuttas.  Monsoon got the railway tracks and roads submerged under floods . In the Scan Centre

In The Scan Centre. It's been days,I have not written anything.  As a student, was given topics for essay ..An Evening at the Park,Waiting at the Bus stop or Railway station...and I would let my mind build so many characters. My teachers would love reading them. I am an Anaesthesiologist who visits Scan Centres regularly for Anaesthesia work. As I enter the Scan Centre,a sea of faces will be sitting waiting for their turn . Some waiting for Xray. Some drinking lots of litre of water to fill their bladder for Ultra Sound. Some with Intravenous canula and drip. Some on the stretchers. Some on the wheel chair. Scan Centre is the place I see multiple emotions.  Some faces tensed as they are waiting for the investigations which will either confirm the diagnosis of their Cancer and spread of the deadly disease.Anxious and gaunt. Some leaving the centre with sigh of relief when the MRI rules out that deadly disease or confirms no spread. Some leave with mixed feelings- relief th...
