In the Scan Centre
In The Scan Centre.
It's been days,I have not written anything.
As a student, was given topics for essay ..An Evening at the Park,Waiting at the Bus stop or Railway station...and I would let my mind build so many characters. My teachers would love reading them.
I am an Anaesthesiologist who visits Scan Centres regularly for Anaesthesia work.
As I enter the Scan Centre,a sea of faces will be sitting waiting for their turn .
Some waiting for Xray.
Some drinking lots of litre of water to fill their bladder for Ultra Sound.
Some with Intravenous canula and drip.
Some on the stretchers.
Some on the wheel chair.
Scan Centre is the place I see multiple emotions.
Some faces tensed as they are waiting for the investigations which will either confirm the diagnosis of their Cancer and spread of the deadly disease.Anxious and gaunt.
Some leaving the centre with sigh of relief when the MRI rules out that deadly disease or confirms no spread.
Some leave with mixed feelings- relief that finally Some disease got diagnosed ....tensed about the treatment following henceforth.
Scan centre is the only place where person entering is happy both if a positive result comes...atlast some diagnosisreached.......or a negative result ruling out a deadly disease.
Scan centre is the only place where a person happily fasts or drinks litre of water to fill the bladder for diagnosis of the symptoms troubling them .
Scan centre is the only place a lady doesn't notice another lady's dress or saree or jewelry because her mind is controlling her bursting bladder full of litre of urine. If she fails to control her bladder ,again she will be made to drink litre of water.
Scan centre is the 1st line of investigations when illness troubles a person.
Thus is the only place where my Clinical Evaluation is put to test as patient for Anaesthesia comes with no investigations nor confirmed diagnosis.( in Theatre or Intensive care unit, my patient is fully investigated with diagnosis)
Challenging indeed.
Scan centre sees all ages( just hour before born to Geriatrics),all genders, caste, color, community, race, culture, language.
A lady waiting for confirmation of pregnancy, A lady trying to find out why she is not getting pregnant,...
A young boy fallen down....
A young man after a Road traffic accident.....
A middle aged tensed on diagnosis of a serious disease...or same person leaving the centre confirming complete recovery post treatment.
A Geriatric facing a Stroke ,unconscious brought by kind neighbors....or same Geriatric accompanied by caring children for post recovery Scan.
An anxious parent bringing a Mentally weak child hoping for some treatment to improve the condition .
An exhausted mother relieved after normal Scan of the weak child.
A very Bollywood movie ....full of emotions, tears, laughter, anxiety, anguish,.....
Ending of this Bollywood movie named " Scan Centre" is different.....
Picture abhi toh baaki hai.....
For me it's a never ending one.
