The Pain of FALL
The Pain of " FALL"
Today, as I was at Nruptungabetta, over the hill,in the morning, I saw a small boy slip and fall down while walking. He started to cry. His older brother and father who were ahead of him, pulled him up,rubbed the mud off his bruised knee....and pacified him.
But he kept on crying.
A few steps ahead, his older brother slipped and fell.( Purposeful act).
Seeing his older brother slip and fall too...the younger one stopped crying and the trio went ahead to enjoy their morning walk over the hill.
As the track was muddy and slippery as it had rained at night,I saw another kid, who was with a big group of boys ,slip and fall.
But here, the rest of the group started laughing and teasing the boy as he was a bit bulky compared to his very lean friends.
The boy burst into tears.
These 2 incidents happening the same moment got me thinking......
When one falls.....
What is more painful?
What brings tears in the eyes?
The pain caused physically by the FALL.
Or
The humiliation brought by others around .
The young boy forgot the physical pain in 1st incident, when he saw his older brother too slip and fall.
In the 2nd Incident, the boy felt the pain caused due to embarrassment caused by his laughing friends.
In our life, when in school,....if we got less marks or Failed in exam,we did feel bad.
But seeing our friends or the whole class perform badly and fail the exam, the remorse of us failing turns into joy and relief.
But if we are the only one to perform badly or fail....while the whole class especially our close friends pass......the embarrassment makes us remorse even more.
Later,in Adulthood, we do happen to " FALL".... in front of everyone.
People around do laugh and make fun at our FALL.
The physical pain caused by the FALL is not as much as the Pain caused by the humiliation and embarrassment.
How do we deal with The PAIN of The FALL in our life????
Life at times does become slippery just like the muddy track I walked in the morning.
We do at times slip and we FALL.
Physical pain does get healed immediately after the wound heals.
But the mental pain caused by embarrassment of falling remains forever.
We must teach ourselves to brush up the mud on our clothes and wipe the tears in eyes....and move ahead to enjoy the walk ahead .
If someone with us falls down....help him to lift himself up, brush off the dirt....and encourage him to walk along ahead......
That's what the older brother did when his younger brother fell down......
Life is a beautiful journey.
Walk along and help other too to walk along and enjoy the journey.
